When it comes to line I have long ago switched to the braided or fused lines, which in my opinion is one of the best things you can do for your spin fishing. They cast very well, are much stronger than mono and first and foremost have very little stretch, which means that you have much better contact with the fly or lure at the terminal end - even with a lot of line out. Contrary to what you might hear they work fine with stiffer rods.
I use a millimeters Berkley Fireline with an impressing breaking strength of about 7 kilos. A monfilament line would have to be twice as thick or more to have the same strength and feels quite thick and clumsy once you have tried the braided or fused lines.
In the midst of the tidal wave that is The Last Jedi , the untitled Han Solo movie has flown under the radar since its worry-inducing drama broke in June after the firing of directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller. We haven’t learned a lot since Ron Howard took over, aside from his beautiful use of social media to tease us with thought provoking photos and brief videos now and then. Well now in addition to the cryptic tweeting by the director, there are rumors of a wrap party, as well as word that a teaser trailer may already have been produced, and that we are not far away from the release of the title. Let’s check it out…PUNCH IT!
We do however have a couple side scan sonar targets that do look like they could be very low lying wreckage with fish hanging on them and we were hoping to get back to sea and run the magnetometer over them but too much time was passing at the dock and we felt we needed to get back to work on the sites in Key West.
We are planning to return next summer to continue this search and move out to the east a bit more to cover that side, then to the west to fill out the current search box area. Currently the Magruder is planning to head back out to sea on Wednesday and the Dare is doing some welding repairs on the mailboxes before installing them and heading back out to the site as well.
